Winternationals - Australia Number 2 Supercharged Outlaws 2009.

The weekend started off on Thursday with only one qualify for the day. We ran at about 7:30pm which was good weather for us outlaws. 0.447 reaction ran 7.417 @ 179.46mph which was an awesome start to winters, which put us in 11th position in qualifying.

Friday started off slow due to a delay in racing with the fog not disappearing till 9:30 so we were already an hour and a half behind. We did a little bit of maintence to the car before our second qualify. 0.407 reaction ran a 7.335 @ 182.69mph. Very happy we have run consistence numbers and awesome reactions. We still qualified in 11th position. Third qualify came around at 4:00pm 0.384 reaction (Red light) 1.083 60ft then blew the blower belt, First time for the year. When we got back to the pits we realized that we hadn’t replaced it in a while so it was just old age that broke the belt, luckily. We ended up qualifying 21 out of 36 so not too bad really.

Saturday, we had all day to really do nothing but wait around and watch the other races. We were running first in the ANDRA Australian Championship with Christine Steffens and Nathan Peirano chasing behind. So Round one came at 8:00pm I had come up against Alex Harris in his nicely done Pontiac Firebird, He dialed in at 6.70 and I dialled in at 7.30.As I went in to stage I pulled the helmet visor down it fog up on me (Breathing heavy dew to the pressure of the race) 0.339 reaction (Yes another RED light) ran a 7.34 @ 182.56mph. I didn’t see the red light so I didn’t know if I had lost or not. Waited for ages while the crew were coming to get me but only to be told I lost with a red light. Bit of bad luck. We did very well for our first year in Supercharged Outlaws. We didn’t expect to be anywhere near the top when we brought the car, we thought we’d take a while before we even looked at the top of the table so to get second for the Championship was more than overwhelming.
