Perth motorplex for the 38th Westernationals.

QLF 1 day started off hot as hell, waiting around for a first run for the day. Finally came around at about 4pm ran a 7.5 @ 155mph had really bad tyre shake due to balance problem to the rear tyres. Vibration was that bad it blurred my vision. So came back to the pits and tried to repair problem for next round.

QLF 2 came along at 6pm a whole lot cooler. We went out and ran a 8.1 @ 138mph tried to launch with the trans-brake. (For people that don’t know what a trans-brake is, it locks forward and reverse gear together, stops the car from moving.) We don’t use the trans-brake but we wanted to try and get better reaction times but I wasn’t use to using it and got a tad confused and stuffed the run up. We won’t be using the trans-brake again. Haha.

QLF 3 was at 8pm ran a 7.7 @ 150mph we blew the gasket underneath the supercharger to intake manifold, which lost an excessive amount of horsepower. We came back to the pits and removed the supercharger and fitted a new gasket. After refitting the supercharger we ran the car on stands to check the gasket all was looking good.

RND 1 we came against a Lamborghini running a dial-in of 6.8 we dialed in at 7.4. As we launched we blew the gasket once again sprayed oil all over my helmet making it hard to see. Wasn’t happy we got knocked out after the first round. Brought the car back to the pits and removed gasket and found gasket material too soft. So fitted previous gasket and sealed it refitted supercharger. We got asked for a grudge match against a blown VL commodore. We did well good reaction and fixed the gasket problem. Still had bad tyre shake so backed off just before the finish line and ran a 7.5 @ 168mph.

We got asked to have all crew members and car down on the start line for a reason we didn’t know. We cleaned the car and headed down and found out we had won best presented car and crew!!!
